You will find yourself moved by these portraits of indomitable women who light the darkest recesses of ignorance, deprivation and hunger with infinite compassion, possibility and change.
As president and CEO of the Global Fund for Women for the past ten years, I have had the privilege of visiting and meeting with many of these incredible leaders around the globe.
These women are true leaders. They implement diverse programs and projects for the advancement of women’s rights that
vividly demonstrate how small actions can create giant ripples of change in the most conservative and traditional societies.
The resilient, locally-based community organizations that they establish in small villages, urban slums and suburban neighborhoods, and the sophisticated regional networks of lawyers, doctors and academics that transcend narrow national boundaries, exemplify a commitment to human rights for all people.
